Avignon & Environs - Hotels and B&Bs

Aix en Provence

Avignon, one of the most popular tourist destinations in France. Very busy in the summer time especially in July when the famous Festival d'Avignon takes place. We recommend to stay in Avignon "Intramuros" (the historic center surrounded by medieval city walls). Avoid the suburbs! Avignon Intramuros has a good selection of chic hotels and B&Bs. The restaurant scene here is great and you can do everything on foot!

Another nice spot we look at here is Villeneuve lez Avignon, a small historic town across the Rhône and some wine villages further west, like Tavel.

Staying in the countryside near Avignon our favorite areas are the Luberon and l'Isle sur la Sorgue, Vaison & Pays du Ventoux and the Alpilles. You are never more than 30 min. by car from Avignon.
