Lodging: Alpes-Maritimes (Côte d'Azur)
Alpes Maritimes is the second largest départément by population in the Provence-Côte d'Azur Region. It has a remarkable array of attractions. Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Saint Paul de Vence, the perched villages of Èze and Tourrettes sur Loup and the exclusive coast between Villefranche and Menton with the tiny principality of Monaco in between.
The coastal regions are densely populated, a contiguous metropolitan area consisting of separately incorporated towns lining the Côte d'Azur from Nice to Théoule sur Mer southwest of Cannes and expanding inland to Grasse. With a fast growing population it probably has by now close to 1 million inhabitants. If it were officially regarded as a metropolitan area, which it is not, it would be France's 5th largest.
Somewhat surprisingly there is no lack of hideaway type lodgings. We have selected a number of hotels and bed and breakfasts (B&B) as well as for the first time self-catering vacation rentals.
