Cyril Glémot, the former chef of l'Oustalet in Gigondas, Sommelier Romain Gaillard and his partner Christelle have opened a new restaurant and wine cellar in the midst of the Cairanne vineyards.
The young team bought the Domaine Brusset retail sales outlet at the crossing of D8 (Carpentras-Cairanne) with D976 (Travaillan-Rasteau) and converted it into a chic restaurant with minimalist decor. White and light taupe colors set the tone inside. Large sliding doors connect to the outside dining area with tables set casually amongst trees and shrubs.
Cyril uses primarily local produce to create a refined yet refreshing cuisine. The menu is creative and changes on a bi-weekly basis. The shrimp appetizer was in a class of its own, light, refined taste and beautifully presented. The gigot d'agneau (roasted lamb shank) was served on a bed of épeautre (spelt), delicately flavored, a delight. Weekday lunches range from €16-22, dinner from €32-45. The wine list highlights some of the best the region has to offer: Gigondas, Cairanne, Rasteau, Vacqueyras and a few Châteauneuf du Pape.
The adjacent cave (wine cellar) sells the wines you find on Cyril's wine list at the producer's retail prices.
Côteaux et Fourchettes is an excellent addition to a very competitive dining scene in the Haut Vaucluse. But Cyril has a top notch track record and faithful following.
